How to accurately determine pregnancy

The ancient methods of determining pregnancy have long been irrelevant, over the years experts have begun to more subtly study the body of a woman, and therefore to determine pregnancy is not so difficult as it seems at first glance. Doctors studied the biochemical changes in the body of a pregnant woman, based on the reactions of the body can successfully diagnose pregnancy. Experiments and studies were conducted for many years, constantly enduring the final result and drawing conclusions after the surveys, so the database stores a lot of symptoms based on immunological and biochemical studies.

The basis of each method involves the determination of pregnancy through urine and blood tests, and if the analysis contains Chorionic Gonadotropin – a woman is pregnant with a probability of 100%. A week after conception, this hormone begins to be produced in the body, so you can ascertain pregnancy. At the moment, instant diagnosis and testing of pregnancy with the use of chromatography is very popular. One test can give the exact answer, but for the diagnosis of an ectopic pregnancy a woman will have to undergo additional examinations.

At the moment, women around the world use tests from different manufacturers, their action is very simple and understandable to every person. The indicator strip is dipped into the urine for a couple of minutes, and depending on the number of strips, one can draw conclusions.

How to determine pregnancy

Ultrasound is very affordable and effective. With the help of ultrasound, pregnancy can be detected on the fifth day of menstrual cycle delay. However, you can check on the second day, if you conduct a transvaginal examination. The ultrasound will show the fetal egg in the uterus, which has a diameter of about five millimeters. This is a very fast and reliable way to determine pregnancy, so it is advisable to give preference to it. Specialists will easily determine pregnancy, and you do not have to take tests and sit in long queues in the hospital.

At the moment, it is not difficult to diagnose pregnancy, but it is preferable not to do tests at home and not be frightened by the results seen. It is worth remembering that the result of the test may be unreliable, and you will only survive the emotional shock and once again be nervous. If there are signs of pregnancy, contact the clinic, the accuracy of the results when examined by specialists is 100%.

Determination of gestational age

Determination of the duration of pregnancy is not difficult. Below we give a few common methods.

  • Determine the menstrual cycle, determine the number of the first day of the last month.
  • Pass an obstetric examination, which will determine the position and size of the uterus. The uterus gradually increases from the moment of conception, in six weeks it will increase slightly, and in two weeks it will be the size of your fist. At the 12th week, the uterus reaches the size of a grapefruit, and at 16 its bottom rises above the pubic bone by 7 centimeters. If you are 20 weeks pregnant, the uterus will be below the navel by just two fingers, and at 24 weeks the uterus is at the level of the navel. Then at the 27th week, its bottom is three centimeters above the navel. At 32 weeks, the uterus is located above the navel by six centimeters, and by 40 – four fingers below the ribs.
  • The term can also be determined by ultrasound examination. On the third week in the womb, a fetal egg already appears, and on the seventh, you can monitor how the heart of the embryo beats.
  • At the twentieth week, you can feel the movements of the fetus, so you, too, can determine the gestation period.

Remember that the duration of pregnancy is 280 days, speaking differently – 10 months of obstetrics. Countdown should start from the initial day of the last month. Pregnancy lasts forty weeks, and in the obstetric month – four weeks and 28 days. You can equate 10 obstetric months to 9 calendar months. There are three main periods of pregnancy:

  • The first one lasts 14 weeks;
  • The second one is from 15 to 27 weeks;
  • The third lasts 28-40 weeks.
